“What led me to Acupuncture school was a chance encounter with Daoist Grandmaster Sung Baek in 2009 at an art gallery on the Bowery. A few years later I became very sick with autoimmune disease that went undiagnosed by various Western Medical doctors. Through my studies with Grandmaster I also met my longtime mentor Chris Chen and my Masters Degree in Acupuncture in 2012. I finally felt like I was given answers to the complex state of health that seemed never ending. This, in turn, made me wildly passionate about understanding the connection between the mind and the body, how emotions and our thoughts can and inspired me to find a way to share everything I learn with the world. As I continued my studies and began to learn the different acupuncture points that reside within the body, I was inspired and moved by the beauty and power of each individual point. Eventually I came across a very special point named BENSHEN, which means ‘Root Spirit’ or ‘Root of the Spirit’ It is the space that allows the Shen, the Spirit, to take root inside of the body. After all of my studies over the last decade, I have seen again and again that when we are disconnected from our Spirit, from that which lights us up and gives us purpose in this very special incarnation of human life, our bodies begin to reflect that misalignment. Rooting the Spirit into the Body, creating space for inspiration and our visions - no matter what they may be - to come from the Heavens onto the Earth, is the heart of everything we do at Benshen.co. It is the greatest honor to be able to share all of these time-tested teachings, practices, and tools that help me daily experience health and happiness. And forever we will be grateful to the ancient lineages and practices that help us in these modern times become more connected to our Selves so that we all may experience happiness and give us the vitality to help to make the world a little bit better, day by day, in every way.”
