RITUAL • What are your daily inner + outer rituals to cultivate beauty and radiance?

The first things I do each morning are say “thank you” to God, snuggle my husband, and kiss our dogs Ollie & Harry. There is nothing like connecting with the people you love most to make a girl feel beautiful!  I enjoy a peaceful start to most days, either with a walk outside to get coffee at my favorite cafe or sipping homemade coffee on our back porch. I use clove oil on my skin, only wash my hair once per week, rarely wear makeup, take magnesium in the evening, and sleep most nights like a bear hibernating in winter. I also laugh freely/often and indulge in a lot of movies, music, & TV from the 90’s because they fill me with infinite happiness, leading to more smiles & more beauty (90’s pop culture = essential to my beauty ritual).

 

NOURISH • What are your staples for beauty + wellness + radiance?

Water, water, and more water. Nothing else compares! I also love to sip matcha tea and green juice with loads of lemon and ginger. I have spent a long time quieting the diet voices that used to swarm around in my head so that I can connect with what my body truly needs. I notice the foods that make me feel lovely change seasonally. Right now she is asking for many grounding grains (especially brown rice), creamy fats (like avocado and nut butter), and spicy greens (like arugula and dandelion). There is nothing like the feeling of trust and gratitude I experience when I lovingly respond to my body’s requests.

 

BODY • How do you keep your body healthy, strong, and powerful?

I walk or ride my bike most everywhere, which is a great way to incorporate movement daily. I also love to set aside time 5-7 days a week to work out, as it helps me clear my mind, release stress, and reconnect with my body’s abilities. Right now, I am enjoying running outdoors, barre classes, and yoga. Similar to my food choices, I move in ways that feel great to my body and try to release any “shoulds” that creep into my mind. I also love a good make-out sesh with that dude I’m spending my life with (always affective at raising that heart rate). 

 

MIND • How do you stay grounded, confident, and centered in this modern day craziness we call life?

Deep breathing, prayer, and naps. This is my zen trifecta! I also love connecting with my best girlfriends, mom, and sister, talking about any and everything (and sometimes nothing at all).

 

SPIRIT • BENSHEN means 'root of the spirit' - how do you root your spirit into your life, which in turn, keeps your body beautiful, healthy, and radiant?

I connect with my intuition over and over again each day. What is she asking for? What does she need? I trust that God speaks to me through my intuition and when I am willing to listen, I can be guided to a fulfilling, authentic, and rich life. I stay open to what life brings me, trusting that there is a path for my life that is more magnificent than anything I could plan on my own. I trust in the good in people and I trust in the good in me. When I dream big, I remind myself “why not me?” Suddenly, the possibilities are endless!
