RITUAL • What are your daily inner + outer rituals to cultivate beauty and radiance?

Daily rituals are very important for me. They keep me grounded and remind me to slow down and cherish my morning and evenings – the best parts of the day. In the mornings I like to wake up with the sun. I love the quiet still of the early morning hours; I find them to be the most inspiring hours of the day. I start my days by drinking warm lemon water, sometimes with a sprinkle of cayenne. On ideal days, I’ll sit in bed and write out some intentions for my day or mantras that I have been needing in my life. I try to do this before picking up my phone or checking my computer. After a walk with my dogs, when I arrive at my studio I like to burn maybe just a leaf of sage or palo santo to begin the day.

I use sesame oil and Earth Tu  Face Rose + Aloe toning mist on my face every morning and generally do not use any other product or makeup on “regular” days because I spend most of my hours working in my studio. I’ll usually dab a tiny bit of lavender or jasmine oil blended with jojoba on my wrist and neck before I walk out the door and throughout the day.

In the evenings I like to quiet down early. Once a week, I will practice ayurvedic dry brushing and abhyanga and treat myself to an Indian Healing Clay face mask mixed with apple cider vinegar.

My mind tends to race with ideas at night so in the evenings I always have a cup of lavender or chamomile tea before bed.


NOURISH • What are your staples for beauty + wellness + radiance?

I eat a plant based diet, and ideally organic, local, and seasonal produce. I try my best to follow a conscious vata dosha diet. My go-to easy meals are big bounty bowls filled with steamed vegetables, quinoa or rice, beans, and a fermented vegetable blend on top. I eat and drink a lot of beets and avocados. I drink turmeric tea often and have been experimenting with turmeric and matcha green tea lattes with my homemade almond milk. I try to be sure I have some sort of greens every day, and ideally will have a fresh green or beet juice in the afternoons. I take Ashwagandha everyday to keep my mind balanced. Oh, and lots and lots of water all day long!


BODY • How do you keep your body healthy, strong, and powerful?

Yoga. It helps me move stagnant energy in my mind and body, and also keeps me tuned into my physical being.  I am a true Aquarius and am often floating somewhere in the clouds with my thoughts, emotions, and creativity - so having a daily physical practice is super important in keeping me grounded.

Also, I believe listening to mind and body is the greatest act of nourishment.  Whether it is my physical, spirit, or creative body telling me to slow down –I listen.


MIND • How do you stay grounded, confident, and centered in this modern day craziness we call life?

Spirituality, yoga, meditation, pranayama. Time by the ocean. Rest. Quiet time. Connection.


SPIRIT • BENSHEN means 'root of the spirit' - how do you root your spirit into your life, which in turn, keeps your body beautiful, healthy, and radiant?

I try to remember that each day is a new story, that every person in my life is my teacher, and that my own intuition speaks loudly. I ask my Higher Self to stay confident and my Creative Self to stay alive. I meditate in gratitude daily.
