RITUAL • What are your daily inner + outer rituals to cultivate beauty and radiance?
I try to start everyday with a jog with my dogs to this little park near my house here in Guatemala. Once we're there, I let them off leash (totally normal here) and then I do about 15 minutes or so of yoga to just stretch my body out. After I jog back, I immediately take a hot shower that I always end with cold water. There's something about the freezing water that wakes me up for the rest of the day. Plus, I'm convinced this is good for my skin and hair. Who knows if there's truth to that.
NOURISH • What are your staples for beauty + wellness + radiance?
I use coconut oil and apple cider vinegar for just about everything. Coconut oil is a great moisturizer for your skin and body and apple cider vinegar is a great astringent and cleansing shampoo rinse.
My daily routine is to start my morning with Vitamin c crystals and then a cucumber, ginger, apple cider vinegar, mint, lime and aloe juice. I feel like this keeps my skin clear and digestion on track.
BODY • How do you keep your body healthy, strong, and powerful?
Food and movement together are very strong tools to keeping a balanced body. I really try to focus on only eating foods that make my body feel good afterwards. I used to be an emotional eater and I found that by eating things like excessive cheese, pasta and bread to make me temporarily satisfied would just slow me down and both mentally and physically.
MIND • How do you stay grounded, confident, and centered in this modern day craziness we call life?
Music really helps center me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed with work or my personal life, I just take a moment to be alone and listen to one of my favorite playlists to get out of my funk.
SPIRIT • BENSHEN means 'root of the spirit' - how do you root your spirit into your life, which in turn, keeps your body beautiful, healthy, and radiant?
I believe that all energy you project into the world starts internally. By nourishing my body and being the healthiest version of myself, I'm best able to achieve my goals in my personal life and the workplace.
